The Most Important Gadget In My Life

Many people often tell me, they can’t leave the house without their mobile phone. While I do love my mobile phone to bits, there is one gadget that I cannot live without, and it’s not my mobile phone. It’s my 4th generation iPod which has been part of my life since 2009.

My super cool mom gave it to me as a birthday gift. It has been through changing boyfriends, jobs, freelance work and unemployment. It was my very first apple device and the only apple device I own. Apart from the fact that I cannot afford apple products, it is also the only apple product I truly fell in love with. I found the click wheel to be such as great thing! While this might sound odd that I am raving about an old product, I felt like this thing never got enough praise from me. So here’s why I love my iPod to bits:

1.       It has never conked out on me. This includes the fact that it has gotten wet a couple of times, has fallen off my bed way too often and has survived my son’s saliva baths. Whenever anything goes wrong, I just have to dry it out, wipe it clean and then wait for about an hour till it dries and then restart the thing and boom! It’s all ok.

2.      It’s easy to use on the go. Now this feature is because of two things: first is the fact that it is easy to operate, the second reason being the fact that it is easy to shoot into any pocket or bag opening because it is so sleek and thin. This makes it most handy for me, because I need to have music all the time, I listen to music like I need my atmosphere to have some kind of background music to it, like the movies.

3.       It has saved my life, so many times. I can’t tell you the number of times wearing my ipod has saved me from hearing stupid comments, bad jokes and terrible lies about myself and other people that could have resulted to heated arguments and possibly some physical harm. It has also saved others from me punching them in the face for making some overly forward and sexually charged comments about my appearance.

4.       It’s a very sentimental thing. My mom raised us very practically and often times, we got nice stuff like gadgets when we did good, and by good I mean had good grades or accomplished something. Like when I got second honors in second grade, I got some pricey toys, when I graduated elementary, I got a TV in my room as a gift, then in college when I got really good grades, I got a sweet Sony Ericsson phone. So I was surprised my mom got me an ipod for my birthday considering I wasn’t really an awesome person in the year 2009 and did not do anything worth being proud of.

I really love my iPod and I dread the day when it finally gives up and stops working. Hopefully it will take a long time before that happens, and by then I do hope Apple makes an iPod with a similar design and similar price, so I can buy a new one that feels just like the old one. J
